Temperance & Self-Control – “I Control My Body”

Father, I thank you that in Christ I have all power and authority over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt me (Luke 10:19).  You have taught me that the realm where the enemy has power is the flesh, and Lord I rejoice that Jesus has abolished in His flesh this realm.  Therefore I rejoice in the new creation that I am in Christ Jesus (II Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:15).

So today, I decree over my body that I:

  • Have mastery and total control over my flesh.   My body will obey me and I will keep under my body as its Lord.  I command my body to be in subjection to the Holy Spirit who dwells within me.  It will also yield to exercise, healthy eating and proper living (I Corinthians 9:27).

  • I will not be unfit or disqualified to preach and proclaim the gospel to others.  But by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, I am able to stand the test of the enemy and prove the excellency of Christ in my body (I Corinthians 9:27; Philippians 1:10).

  • I am a Son of God, led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14), and by His Spirit I develop the fruit of temperance and self control over my mind, over my emotions, and over my flesh (Galatians 5:18, 23).

  • Because I am in Christ, I have crucified my flesh with all of its affections and lusts (Galatians 5:24).  My flesh does not dominate me in eating, sleeping, spending money, not exercising, sexual urges, or the prides of life.

  • I am as a sheep accounted for the slaughter, and for the love of God, my body’s desires are slain all day long (Psalm 44:22; Romans 8:36).

  • I know that this body does not belong to me, but has been purchased by the precious blood of Jesus (Acts 20:28).  Therefore I offer my body as a holy, living sacrifice unto you Lord; for to do your will is my reasonable service (Romans 12:1).

  • Every day I choose to live and walk by the counsel of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:25), and no longer by the dictates of my flesh (Romans 8:1).

  • By the empowerment of the Holy Spirit I have total control and mastery over my body.  Today and every day, it is my slave.

Now Father I ask that you do exceeding, abundantly above in my physical body what I’ve asked or even thought, in accordance with the power that is at work within me (Ephesians 3:20), by blessing this mighty seed (exercise) that I declare shall bring forth God-results, healing and strength in every area.  In Jesus’ name I pray and receive it, amen.
